Taking Root Fund
The Taking Root Fund supports beautification efforts within the City of Oshkosh. The project began in 2010, in response to a communitywide visioning survey that identified a need for more trees after the community suffered losses from storms and street widening projects.

Residents helped raise more than $500,000 to support the project, and funds continue to be donated for future beautification projects. The public-private partnership that developed with the Community Foundation and the City of Oshkosh resulted in the planting of nearly 3,000 trees in public spaces throughout the city, in addition to landscaping and trees in city parks and other properties, including the Oshkosh Public Library. It also included the installation of four welcome signs at the city's main highway entry points.

The Taking Root II campaign began in 2022, after the city began losing more trees due to the emerald ash borer. In an effort to reforest our city, this fund continues to help purchase and plant trees throughout public property and terraces.
